The SWFD was dispatched to 935 Main Street for a reported garage/barn fire. Within minutes, a FD member and a Police Officer arrived and confirmed a "working fire". Chief Cooney (Car 10) arrived shortly after and established Command. The building was a 1 1/2 story three-bay garage/barn with a 2nd floor. Fire was self-venting through the roof in the rear of the structure.
E4 arrived shortly thereafter and made initial efforts fighting the fire. E6, E3, E8, T1, and R5 crews arrived subsequently and assisted in extinguishment/overhaul. Great effort by all and no injuries. The fire is under investigation by the South Windsor Fire Marshal's Office. A thank you to the support of our Fire/Police Division, the Ambulance Service of Manchester and the Town of South Windsor Public Works.

During the Fire, the mutual aid coverage departments and Deputy Chief Hofmann (Car 12) responded to Rt. 5 for a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian that was struck. Non life-threatening injuries were reported.
As units were clearing from the fire and mutual aid was released, Deputy Chief Fine (Car 15), E8, E6, and the South Windsor Police Department responded to a natural gas incident on Rye Street near the park. No residents were evacuated, but the road was closed till Eversource Gas arrived to mitigate the situation.
