SWFD Explorer Training

Monday, June 29, 2020
The SWFD Explorers, Explorer Post 838, are a group of junior members age 14 to 17. Like the 18+ members, this dedicated group trains weekly on similar topics like the rest of the department. Tonight was a fire behavior class, consisting of both classroom and outside/practical work.

The “dollhouse” shown here is built to be an example of a standard, two-story, wood-frame residential structure. Each “window” is an opening to a separate room inside the dollhouse, and can be opened fully or partially. This is done to show what effect different points of ventilation would have on a small room and contents fire, or an advanced multi-room fire.
