Mission Statement

The South Windsor Volunteer Fire Department was formed and continues to operate to protect life and property from fire and other destructive threats. To provide this community service we hold staffing, equipping, and training for those threats to be our highest priorities. We also recognize that developing strong social an fraternal ties among our members is important. In all our endeavors we strive to be recognized as a leader in the fire service community.

We will provide an environment that attracts and retains those townspeople committed to volunteering their energies in this community service.

We will develop professionalism and expertise in those who volunteer by providing high quality training as well as opportunities for personal growth.

We will honor the contributions of those who came before us, recognizing that our history is important to our future.

We will provide fire prevention services and other educational opportunities to the townspeople in an effort to minimize the incidence of fire, accidents, and the associated costs.

We will provide a fleet of apparatus, equipped and maintained to respond to the needs of the community. We will also provide equipment to ensure the safety and adequate response of our personnel.

We will work to compliment other town organizations; particularly those likely to respond to emergency situations, by maintaining close relationships and continuing dialogue with these groups.

Finally, we will operate as a business, engaged in providing emergency services, ever mindful that the Town and its citizens are our customers. We will respond to the needs of those customers by providing a high level of service at a cost acceptable to the community.
