On February 1 just before 10:30 AM, an All American Waste trash truck picked up item(s) that caused a fire in the truck.
All trash was dumped and extinguished by SWFD. No damage to truck. No injuries.
Occurred in a quiet residential neighborhood of Farmstead Drive and Brook Street.

MVA with extrication
SWFD, South Windsor Police Department, and Ambulance Service of Manchester responded to a single-vehicle crash requiring extrication of the occupant. The accident took place on John Fitch Boulevard (southbound) (Rt. 5) near Fitch Meadow. Believed to be non life-threatening injuries. There was no road closure.

Overnight and continuing today, the storm has caused a lot of trees, branches, and overall debris in roadways. Please use caution and drive slowly.
AVOID - STAY AWAY from ALL downed wires!!
Brookfield Street is temporarily closed near Troy Road due to tree/lines down.
One home suffered significant damage from a fallen tree. No injuries.
SWFD, Ambulance Service of Manchester, and CSP operating at a motor vehicle crash, I-291 e/b just past exit 4 (Rt5). Limited to just the left lane, right lane still open, but traffic backed up on Bissell Bridge.
