SWFD, South Windsor Police Department, Ambulance Servicef Manchester on scene of a 1 car motor vehicle crash in front of Hartford Health Care, 1559 Sullivan Avenue. Thankfully, Neither the driver nor passenger were injured.
SWFD operated at a brush fire in the area of Loomis Road.
Saturday, October 3, 2020 1930 hours
SWFD on scene of a vehicle fire I-291 w/b exit 1 off ramp. Ramp closed by CSP for approx 1/2 hour. No injuries.
Ellington Road (Route 74) was closed due to an accident in the 2500 block.
SMOKE DETECTORS SAVE LIVES
At 1:30 AM on Wednesday morning (9/16/2020), the SWFD was dispatched to a home on Austin Circle for a reported dishwasher fire. On arrival, first-in companies found that the dishwasher was previously on fire, however; it had been extinguished by the homeowner. The sleeping residents were alerted to the fire by their smoke detectors, which allowed them to safely evacuate their 3 young children and extinguish the fire prior to it causing catastrophic damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the South Windsor Fire Marshal's Office and there were no reported injuries.
