Storm 10/17/2019

Dedicated members were out in full force this evening/morning responding to storm damage incidents. Luckily, there have been no fires or injuries.
Many trees and Wires are down. Numerous roads are partially and fully blocked by downed trees/wires...PLEASE consider ALL WIRES LIVE and STAY AWAY!
Our Police, Public Works, and Eversource are out starting efforts to restore power and clear the streets.
The local storm started just before 1130pm and all incidents responded to verified. Additional crews were manning the stations and released at 1:00am. PLEASE USE CAUTION IF DRIVING.

Fire Dawn Drive 7/21/2019
At approximately 4:00 AM, the SWFD was dispatched to a Structure Fire on Dawn Drive. First-due Engine 4 arrived on scene within 5 minutes and confirmed smoke showing from the structure, and Began fire attack. Car 10, Tower 1, Engine 6, Rescue 5, and Engine 3 all arrived on scene shortly after.

Crews located a fire in the garage and made a quick knock down, while other crews simultaneously performed a primary search of the residence. The family was able to fully evacuate the home without issue, and the fire was out within minutes.  There were no injuries reported from family members or the firefighters. Crews are currently on scene picking up.

The cause of the fire is being determined by the South Windsor Fire Marshal's Office; all cause and origin questions can be directed to them.

Motor Vehicle Accident 7/19/2019 on 291

12:10 AM - 7/20/19  Shortly after the Route 5 accident: 
The SWFD is now out with the Connecticut State Police on I-291 Westbound, prior to exit 3, for a two-car accident. Non-life threatening injuries were reported. The right lane is closed on the westbound side of the Bissel Bridge.

Motor Vehicle Accident 7/19/2019 Sullivan Ave.
11:00 PM - 7/19/19  SWFD, Ambulance Service of Manchester and South Windsor Police Department are on scene of a three-car accident with rollover at the intersection of Sullivan Avenue and Route 5. 

Non-life threatening injuries reported. Route 5 Southbound has one lane closed.

Motor Vehicle Accident 7/16/2019 Chapel Rd.
SWFD is out with a two-car accident on Route 5 in the area of Chapel Road. Non-life threatening injuries to two patients.
Route 5 northbound is down to one lane prior to the Chapel Road intersection.
