Structure Fire
At 11:50 AM, SWFD was dispatched to a report of a barn on fire in the 300 block of Main Street. Car 14 arrived on scene first and reported a large pile of debris on fire, extending up the side of a barn.
With the 20-30mph winds, the fire extended quickly taking over most of the barn and part of a second garage next to it. Crews battled the wind-driven fire for approximately 40 minutes with multiple large hose lines. All seven South Windsor Fire apparatus responded to the scene with 40+ total firefighters.
Crews protected a nearby residence from any fire extension, and had the fire knocked down shortly before 12:30 PM. Members are still on scene as of 1:30 PM extinguishing a few hotspots and picking up equipment. A lawn mower was the only thing inside either building at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the South Windsor Fire Marshal's Office, and there were no reported injuries.
