- Develops and delivers fire prevention and life safety education programs for the South Windsor community.
- Participates in public outreach programs representing the South Windsor Fire Department.
Fire & Life Safety Educator & Community Outreach Volunteer
Looking for individuals with diversified skills that have an interest in working as a member of the South Windsor Fire Department to bring fire & life safety programs to the South Windsor community.
South Windsor community including:
- Elementary, Middle School, High School students
- Scouts
- Senior Citizens
- Families
- Community Businesses
- Town Organizations
- Town Events
As a SWFD member there are many areas the volunteer can get involved to bring Fire & Life Safety programs to the community.
- Develop & document safety programs
- Present fire & life safety programs
- Assist in the delivery of fire & life safety programs
- Interact with community members
- Liaison with the Board Of Education for program delivery at schools
- Drive thirty five foot Safety House travel trailer to event locations
- Maintain the Safety House travel trailer
- Create video media for delivery of programs including use of COX Cable
- Interact with agencies such as South Windsor Police & South Windsor Ambulance and other safety partners
- Create safety articles for the newspaper
Requirements:
- Resident of South Windsor
- 18 years of age
- 100 hours annually
- Attend 1/2 of monthly business meetings
- Training Provided
