Just after 9pm. SWFD, Manchester Fire Department, Ambulance Service of Manchester, and CSP responded to I-291 w/b between exits 4-5 between Manchester and South Windsor for a motor vehicle accident involving a wrong-way driver.
Confirmed to be I-291 w/b in South Windsor just prior to exit 4 (Rt. 5).
MFD was dispatched initially, once confirmed location, SWFD was dispatched. MFD handled the scene with their initial response of 3 apparatus.
SWFD staged on ramp – Sq2, R5, and E6, and Car 10.
After the collision, one vehicle ended up off the right shoulder into trees. The other vehicle ended up in left travel lane.
West bound traffic was slowed and down to one lane.
ASM transported the injured. No extrication was required.
