Small Brush Fire 2/25/2019
Due to a tree knocking down a primary power line, South Windsor FD and PD are on scene of a small brush fire on Rt. 5 (John Fitch Blvd) in the area of Bidwell Road.
The brush fire has been extinguished, but Route 5 southbound will be closed awaiting line repair and tree removal.
Today has been a windy day, with trees and power lines down all over the state. If you come across a similar scenario, assume all downed wires are live. If wires come down on your vehicle, remain inside the vehicle and dial 911. Do not approach any downed wires and do not get closer than the nearest unaffected telephone pole.
